The Costume Showcase highlights all of the work that our department do over the course of the year. During my second year, in addition to work produced on show, I also produced two costumes. One for my Advanced Cut and Construction class based on the Caucasian Chalk Circle and one as part of my Complementary Construction Skills class which was a project on Corsetry.
My year were given the Caucasian Chalk Circle to design. From the designs produced we each made one costume as part of our Advanced Cut and Construction Class. I made the characters of Grusha and Michael, setting the play in 1844 Bulgaria during the time when Russia invaded in order to push the Turkish out of Bulgaria. For Michael I produced a puppet which could extend and grow although for the purposes of going down the catwalk the puppet was swaddled.

For our Complementary Construction Skills class we each made a corset, set of combinations and a choker piece. We each made the same patterns and were given the same material and learned how to fit a corset to the body. Unlike others in my class I had a male model for my corset.
